The Calhoun Woman’s Club is thrilled to announce that the 29th Sequoyah Ball will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 6:00 pm. Since 1988, the CWC has raised over $800,000 for different agencies and institutions in Calhoun and Gordon County.  Additionally, we have provided annual scholarships for graduates of our local high schools. This tradition could never be achieved or continued without the support of the community and our business partners.  We are proud to be a part of a strong community of volunteers who work to make our hometown a good place for families and businesses to thrive.

The 2024 Sequoyah Ball will be held at Twelve Oaks Pond in Resaca and will include hors d’oeuvres at 6:00, a silent auction, dinner, and live music provided by the Kurt Thomas Band.

This year’s Sequoyah Ball is being held to benefit the Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library.  The library was established in 1911 by the Calhoun Woman’s Club and was housed in a log cabin. In 1967, the library moved to a part of the Calhoun First National bank while a new building was constructed at its current location. When they began to outgrow that space in 1988, they moved temporarily to Stephens High School as a meeting room and children’s area were added. They still use the building from the 1960s, but additional renovations have added a computer space, a teen area, and will soon include a refreshed history space. The Ball funds will be used to expand and enhance programs for patrons of all ages.
