About the Sequoyah Ball

In 2019 the Calhoun Woman’s Club was excited to announce the return of their Sequoyah Ball. An event that started in 1988, the ball hasn’t been put on in five years and the club recently decided to resurrect the old tradition.

History shows that since 1902 The Calhoun Woman’s Club has been heavily involved in the community, working with organizations such as the Harris Arts Center, the Boys and Girls Club, the American Red Cross, the Voluntary Action Center, Habitat for Humanity and the Calhoun Library, which is only the beginning of the list.  Today we also provide three scholarships to deserving local high school seniors each year upon their graduation.

To date, our club has raised over $750,000 for agencies and institutions of Calhoun and Gordon County and has participated in projects such as the library’s renovation and providing new roofing for the Calhoun Depot.

In 2019, the Club decided to bring back an old tradition “The Sequoyah Ball.”  The Ball was Calhoun’s signature fundraiser and the club members felt that it was time to bring back this signature event in an effort to raise awareness of our club efforts and to benefit the Harris Arts Center.  The proceeds of the event will be donated to the HAC, the club’s partner for the 2019 ball.  In 2019 The Sequoyah ball was themed “A New Beginning.”  We hope you will be able to join us in 2020, more information will be posted soon.  If you are interested in sponsorsing our event, please contact us!
