About the Sequoyah Ball
In 2019 the Calhoun Woman’s Club was excited to announce the return of their Sequoyah Ball. After a five-year hiatus, the club recently decided to resurrect the old tradition which began in 1988.
History shows that since 1902 The Calhoun Woman’s Club has been heavily involved in the community, working with organizations such as the Harris Arts Center, the Boys and Girls Club, the American Red Cross, the Voluntary Action Center, Habitat for Humanity and the Calhoun Library, which is only the beginning of the list. Today we also provide three scholarships to deserving local high school seniors each year upon their graduation.
To date, our club has raised over $750,000 for agencies and institutions of Calhoun and Gordon County and has participated in projects such as the library’s renovation and providing new roofing for the Calhoun Depot.
In 2019, the Club decided to bring back an old tradition “The Sequoyah Ball.” The ball was the Calhoun Woman’s Club signature fundraiser and the club members felt that it was time to bring back this worthwhile event. The ball was themed “A New Beginning” and we were thrilled to raise $24,000 to benefit children’s programming at the Harris Arts Center. We hope you will be able to join us on Saturday, March 28th, 2020 as we partner with the Voluntary Action Center to expand their community kitchen and programming. If you are interested in sponsorsing our event, please contact us!
